General notesLochner´s analysis of the name as root *bel-, intensifying suffix *-at- (he compares the prefix *ate-) and suffix *ullo- is problematic. More probable is the analysis offered here as *belatu- (as in Belatu-marus and other compound names) and hypocoristic suffix *-ullo- (cf. Stüber 2007: 150).
