General notes | Note the regional context of these Cit-names: mostly NOR and PAN. Lochner´s (57) analysis of the similar name Citto as a short name of compounded cintu-° is problematic, because we would expect the nasal to be preserved here. If the writing without nasal is to be taken seriously, the underlying root is probably *cit-, cf. OIr. cíth 'rain' < *citu-. |
